Making a decision about which
speaker to have at your meeting can be crucial to the
success of your meeting. It helps to have a basis for
making that decision, so here are seven criteria to use
to make sure you select someone who will be a good fit
and reliable:
1. What other clients has the
speaker worked with? Can he or she supply you with a
client list and testimonial letters?
2. Does the speaker provide both
information (that is easy to use) and inspiration (so
people actually use it)?
3. Does the speaker deliver a
customized program or a standard program geared to the
general audience? What type of preparation does the
speaker do? How extensive is it?
4. Does the speaker interact with
the audience in a positive and memorable way? Will people
be engaged during the program? (people learn best when
they are involved)
5. Will the speaker relate to your
audience?
6. Is the speaker easy to work
with, available to talk to with and reliable?
7. Does the speaker have the earned
certification, Certified
Speaking Professional, CSP,
or another professional certification, which indicates
someone with proven experience?
